Sports Journalism &Communication

The MA Sports Journalism and Communication is a unique programme designed to give you a professional qualification to work as a highly competent multiplatform sports journalist or a communications professional in a sports company or sporting organisation/national governing body. You will take part in an intensive, 12-month training programme in print, digital, broadcast and multimedia practice/strategic communication and will gain important contextual understanding about the contemporary world of sports through a unique ‘Research in Sport’ seminar. Other core modules include a sports journalism bootcamp, Multimedia Newsdays and Media Innovation. You can choose from a suite of specialisms including Strategic Communication; Sports Administration and Governance; Sport in Film; long-form feature writing; and Data Journalism. You will learn in a dedicated digital newsroom and new state-of-the-art broadcasting facilities and will have opportunities to undertake internships at local and national media organisations, sporting bodies and other communications companies.
