Geography and Geosystems
There is a growing demand for a work
force literate in the scientific and
geographic protocols used to advance
environmental issues such as climate
change, energy use, sustainable
development, and policy.
• This programme is aimed at motivated
school leavers and mature students
with a strong interest in how natural
systems function and how the
ecosystem goods and services
provided by the environment are
impacted by human activity.
• The programme focuses on fieldbased learning to provide students
with diverse opportunities to
supplement their academic learning
with hands-on research and technical
experiences outside the classroom.

Global Languages
This degree course aims to
produce graduates with a high
level of competence in at least two
languages. You can choose from
French, German, Irish, Italian
and Spanish.
• Italian is available at beginner
level, and German and Spanish are
available to both beginners and
post-Leaving Certificate students.
French and Irish are available at
post-Leaving Certificate level.
• Students can choose minors in
a range of languages or a minor
subject covering language-related
fields like translation and linguistics,
media and technology, and literature
and culture.
• Students may take short introductory
courses in Chinese and Latin.
Global Media
You’ll get to study an exciting,
globally-focused subject with
a specialism in media studies,
and be able to undertake some
practical modules in media, digital
communication and journalism.

and television companies based
in the West of Ireland as well as a
student-run radio station, Flirt FM,

Government Politics, Economics and Law

Human Rights
This is the only undergraduate
course of its kind in Ireland, allowing
you to combine the study of Arts
subjects with Human Rights.
• Human Rights modules are taught
at the Irish Centre for Human
Rights, which is one of the world’s
premier academic human rights
institutions, dedicated to the study
and promotion of human rights,
international criminal law and
international humanitarian law.
• Students will have the opportunity to
undertake work placement or study
abroad. The placement provides
a unique opportunity to develop
practical skills and experience the
reality of a career in the field of
human rights. Placements have been
secured around the world, from
Dublin to London, Genève, Madrid,
Mexico, Peru and the Philippines.
Mathematics and Education
This course provides a unique
opportunity to pursue a four-year,
full-time honours Mathematics
degree, which incorporates a highly
regarded teaching qualification.
• Graduates of the course are
recognised mathematicians
and are also recognised by the
Teaching Council of Ireland as
qualified second-level teachers
of Mathematics and Applied
Mathematics.
• This is the only available four-year
undergraduate degree in Ireland that
offers a concurrent degree-level
qualification in both Mathematics
and Mathematics teaching.
Data Science
Data scientists are in great demand nationally
and internationally in all domains where data
are collected. As the application areas for
data science are very broad, you can work
in a field that sparks your own personal
interest such as healthcare, social science,
entertainment, sports, genomics, business,
intelligence, security and academia.
Digital Arts and Technology
• Our lives are increasingly shaped
by digital technologies. But how
can new technologies be used
constructively and creatively? What
are the impacts, both positive and
negative, of the new technologies?
• You will gain up-to-date
practical skills in the creative
and professional use of digital
technologies, including coding,
database construction, web design,
and digital content creation.
• The course allows you to complete
one full course in an Arts subject,
combined with training in relevant
aspects of information technology
(IT) and data science.

Drama, Theatre and Perfornce Studies
This programme blends theoretical and practical approaches to
the study of drama, and is particularly suited to applicants who
wish to produce theatre publicly, write or review plays, teach
drama, or carry out further academic research. Applicants with a
general interest in theatre are also very welcome.
